The Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College that is Established in 1995, is a private medical institution. It is situated in Sylhet’s Bimanbandar Thana’s Pathantula neighborhood. It is associated with the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). The 925-bed Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital is affiliated with the college. The college offers a five-year program of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from SUST, which has been approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). A one-year internship is required after completing the final professional exam. To be registered to practice medicine with the BMDC, you must complete an internship. Private medical colleges’ entrance and tuition costs were regulated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in October 2014 at 1,990,000 Bangladeshi Taka ($25,750 in 2014) for their five-year programs.
The Directorate General of Health Services oversees admissions for Bangladesh is to the MBBS program at all government and private medical colleges in Bangladesh (DGHS). It provides graduate degrees in the following fields: Medical Practice, Otolaryngology, Dermatology, Surgery in general, Mental Health Physical Medicine, Pregnancy and gynecology, Pathology, Children’s Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Imaging & Radiology, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology.

The university will issue a letter of confirmation for admission to Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College upon the acceptance of the student’s application. To obtain DGHS clearance, send the mark sheets and all supporting documents to the Bengal Deputy High Commission in Kolkata along with a $60 payment. This eliminates the need to apply to the DGHS for an Equivalent Certificate once you have received the offer letter.

Every other medical college in Bangladesh, including Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College, uses the same standard course length. A five-year MBBS curriculum is typical. Following the 5-year MBBS program, there is a 1-year internship. The internship program in Bangladesh is cyclical, much like the one in India. In Bangladesh, in addition to the standard MBBS course, the undergraduate curriculum includes a one-year internship. English is used as the main language of education in Bangladesh.
The MBBS curriculum and literature used in Bangladesh are the same as those used in India. After completing 5 years of MBBS and a 1-year internship, the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC) grants registration to foreign students, which is equivalent to the license to practice provided to Bangladeshi students. After completing the MBBS program from Bangladesh (5+1 years), students will have to appear National Exit Test (NEXT) in India. Indian students are supposed to complete the whole MBBS course & internship from the same medical college in Bangladesh.
