The Khulna Medical College Hospital had 250 beds prior to 1989. During the year, there was consideration given to the idea of founding a medical college. KMC was thus born. The college started out training undergraduate students in its early years with just a few students and almost no infrastructure. In the hospital, PGT training was also provided. After that, a variety of new facilities, including those for education, research, and residential use, became available.

Along with 9 other government and private medical colleges, Khulna Medical College is affiliated with Rajshahi University through that institution. After completing their fifth year and successfully completing the Professional MBBS examination, students receive their MBBS degrees from Rajshahi University. The Ministry of Health affiliate Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), which also oversees this college, has direct control over it. The University is responsible for holding professional exams and disseminating the results. Card completions, term ends, and regular assessments are just a few of the internal exams that are given on a regular basis. Buildings for instruction and training are available at Khulna Medical College. Next to the hospital building is an academic building. Both the administrative and academic sections are housed in a four-story structure. Offices, the students’ section, the Principal, and other departments are all present.
