In North Bangladesh, Prime Medical College is among the best private medical schools. It is inside the Rangpur city corporation and about half a kilometer from the central bus terminal in Rangpur. Aiming to offer top-notch medical education, research, and services to medical students, Prime Medical College was founded in 2007.

The primary goal of the institute was the founding of a medical college that would provide medical education leading to a recognized medical degree. By accepting 50 students, Prime Medical College was able to begin operations in the 2008–2009 academic year. On November 1st, 2010, the College received affiliation from Rajshahi University. On June 6th, 2010, the college received recognition from the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). After a two-year prescribed course of study, the first professional MBBS examination under Rajshahi University was held in July 2010. The sixth batch of students is currently enrolled in the college. The number of seats increased from 50 to 125 because Rajshahi University and the Ministry of Health were pleased with the academic results. 

The Prime Medical College Hospital officially began operations on August 17, 2007, with a bed capacity of 310, which has since been increased to 750 beds. It is a tertiary care medical center. The hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical services. The hospital has well-equipped departments for general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesia, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, ENT, urology, neurosurgery unit, ICU, CCU, and neonatal ICU. Additional services include a Dialysis Center, Radiology & Imaging Stone Crash Center, Specialist Consultation Center, and Diagnostic Center with modern equipment.

Foreign students

  • The SSC/SLC/O-level/GCSE or equivalent exam must be passed by foreign students, who must also achieve a minimum GPA of 3.00 and pass at least 5 subjects.
  • Additionally, the applicants must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00 and pass the HSC-level or equivalent exam with passing marks in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. However, Biology must be passed with a 3.50 GPA and the SSC/SLC/O level/GCSE and HSC/A-level 12th grade or equivalent examinations must have an overall GPA of 7.00 (seven).
  • The students only have a one-year break from studying for both exams.

 

Local students

  • For admission to a medical program, the applicant must be a citizen of Bangladesh.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the HSC with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as well as the SSC or equivalent.
  • The students must have a minimum combined GPA of 9.0, a minimum individual GPA of 3.5, and a minimum HSC Biology GPA of 3.5.
  • For MBBS admission, candidates must have at least 120 points and a minimum of 40 points in the written medical college entrance exam.
  • Students taking the "O" and "A" level exams must submit equivalent certificates from the Director-General of Health Services, Government of Bangladesh, along with the application.

  • Through the Bangladesh Embassy, foreign students should request an equivalence certificate from the Director-General of the Health Service of the Government of Bangladesh.
  • The Education Board or Ministry of Education of the respective country attests and authenticates all diplomas, transcripts, other certificates, and passport photocopies.

  • The application form must be filled out by the students and cost 1000 Taka.
